Without a doubt, FRESH 105.9 artist Taylor Swift has a pretty good sense of humor.

Last weekend, Taylor Swift pulled a fast one over tour mate Keith Urban.  When Keith started playing his song, “Kiss a Girl,” Taylor and her band rushed the stage in full Kiss makeup and garb.  Backup dancers even hit the stage wearing Hershey Kisses costumes.  It was a riot.

Congratulations to FRESH 105.9 artists “Kings of Leon,” for scoring a nomination in MTV’ Video Music Awards‘ Best Rock Video Category.  However, they’re up to some pretty stiff competition.

Bassist Jared Followill tells MTV.com, quote, “Coldplay? Green Day?  So basically what you’re telling us is that we’ll come in last place.  I swear to God, I think we might come in last place, or maybe second to last.”  Regardless of the results, Followill feels the band have already won by just getting recognition for one of their clips.  “We’re always so self-conscious about our videos.  They’re the hardest thing in the world to make, especially nowadays.  They’ve been around forever, and everything’s been done.  So it’s really, really hard to keep your videos cool.  We feel like every video we’ve ever done is really stupid.  So the fact that we’re up for an award for a video is kind Of cool,” said Followill.

Will Kings Of Leon pull the upset?  Find out when the MTV Video Music Awards airs on MTV September 13th.

Barbara Brotman, writer for the Chicago Tribune’s Play section, had a great piece in yesterday’s paper about hiking through local Cook County forests.

Sarah and I have long talked about going hiking with our dog Coconut.  So far, it has just been talk, as we’ve never actually followed through.  All of that may change, now that I’ve discovered Palos.

Palos, roughly 16,000 acres of woods, ravines, lakes, ponds, wetlands, and prairies, is located just minutes from downtown.  Discover it like I did by checking out Brotman’s article, located here.
