When talking to listeners of FRESH 105.9, one of the most frequently asked questions that comes up is “Where is the radio station located?” We sit on the 10th floor of posh tower 2 of Prudential Plaza, more commonly known as “2 Pru.”

Last week, I noticed a sign in the building’s lobby, announcing that the Prudential Plaza is now recognized as an Energy Star building. According to the press release, “These buildings [ie: Prudential Plaza] are among the nation’s top energy savers.” “They use about one-third less energy than average buildings, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and saves money.”

This leads me to wonder if there’s a yellow energy sticker affixed to a wall in the basement of the tower, like the one attached to my appliances at home, indiciating the annual energy usage and estimated cost of running the building. Maybe I’ll have to ask at the security desk.

I just came across this in a Country Aircheck eblast:

Radio. It’s Pretty Big: PPM data from Arbitron show that Los Angeles radio reaches 9.2 million people during an average weekday in the city, more than four times the reach of the city’s 12 largest newspapers combined. Arbitron revealed the findings during a meeting in L.A. today. In addition, PPM data show that 20 L.A. stations reach more than a million listeners per week, in contrast with the six stations exceeding one million listeners reported under the diary system. (Source: Country Aircheck.com)

So take that skeptics! People are still listening to the radio.
